"NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE APPOINTED FOR NEW PHASE"

7th April 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Trinity Forum Europe (TFE) is delighted to announce the appointment of Robin Millar as its new Chief Executive. TFE works to support and develop future leaders for the public square, especially amongst post graduates. It brings leading thinkers and thinking leaders together to consider the relevance of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ on science, business, academia, society, culture and politics today.

Robin Millar is the former MP for Aberconwy (2019 – 2024). He is currently writing a book on the intersection of faith and politics, drawing on twenty-five years in the public square. He is also preparing a PhD on the limitations of social contract theory as a basis for government:

“We have made great advances in science, technology and communication and the world around us is changing faster than ever. But there is a growing awareness that our institutions and leaders are ill equipped to engage with the powerful forces shaping society, our culture and values. The need for character, truth and discourse in the public square to develop better ideas has never been greater. It is a privilege to be joining the team at Trinity Forum Europe in their work at this critical time of change.”

Kenneth MacKenzie, incoming Chairman of TFE, is the founder of Target Fund Managers and has been involved with the work of TFE for over three decades. He said:

“The commitment of Trinity Forum Europe to strengthening society has informed our search for, and appointment of a new Chief Executive. Robin can help secure, deepen and extend our work and will help shape the next phase of Trinity Forum Europe. He can build on the foundations laid expertly by Jonathan Aitken and to whom the Board extends its warm thanks and appreciation.”

Former MP, the Rev Jonathan Aitken has been the Director of TFE’s work in the UK for more than two decades. Commenting on the appointment, Jonathan said:

“It has been an immense privilege to lead the work of Trinity Forum Europe, to see it established in nine universities and locales across the UK – and successfully navigate the pandemic. However, new challenges are upon us; now is the right time for fresh hands and eyes to take the organisation forward. I offer my full support to Robin as he embarks on the work ahead.”

TFE’s origins lie in the US where its sister organisation, the Trinity Forum, was established as a not-for-profit in 1992 by thinker and writer, Os Guinness and the late Al McDonald, a former marine, former worldwide CEO of McKinsey and White House Staff Director to the Carter administration.

Peter McDonald, the outgoing Chairman of TFE and the son of co-founder, Al, said:

“Trinity Forum was founded more than three decades ago on cornerstones of a curiosity into the mysteries of God, a life-long commitment to learning in loving community and belief in the intellectual relevance of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ to all parts of society. The world may be ever changing, more modern and uncertain but that yearning for God, love and community remains. Robin joins us with our blessing and I look forward with great anticipation to the development of Trinity Forum Europe and its next phase.”
